Relaxation in registration fee and stamp duty while handing over land for public projects
The cabinet has decided to give relaxation in registration fee and stamp duty while handing over land for public projects which has public interest.
Relaxation in registration fee & stamp duty will be applicable for the land purchased towards handing over or land donated to families, which falls under BPL category for constructing houses and upto 10 cents per family, by those other than the relatives who comes under the definition of “family” as mentioned in the Kerala Stamps Act.
The relaxation in registration fee and stamp duty will be applicable in case of victims of disasters while purchasing land up to 10 cents with the financial support of government or in the event of someone – excluding the relatives of such disaster victims, donating land to such victims or handing over any purchased land to them within five years from the date of occurrence of the disaster.
The said relaxation would be applicable for donation of land up to two acres for establishing rehabilitation centres for destitute/handicapped/AIDS-affected or constructing schools for them as well as to establish free palliative care facilities for them.
The authority to issue such orders will be given to the Secretary of Taxes department.The Order shall be brought out as per the recommendation of the District Collector. With regard to the issues of public interest other than this, the proceedings shall be taken as per the decision of the Cabinet and subject to the existing rules regarding this.
