Investors’ meet in February 2025

In-principle approval was given to convene an investors’ meet named ‘Invest Kerala Global Summit 2025’ on 21 & 22 February 2025. The programme will be organised at Lulu Bolgatty International Convention Centre, Kochi in cooperation with various government departments and institutions. Prior to the Summit, a High Power Committee chaired by Chief Secretary, Government of Kerala will be authorised to prepare investment proposals of various departments to be presented in ‘Invest Kerala Global Summit’ and to provide time-bound approvals to large ventures (with investment worth Rs.50 crores and above).

The objective of the Investors’ Summit is to strengthen and coordinate the endeavour to make Kerala investor friendly in accordance with the Industrial Policy 2023.

Laterite mining: Amendment in minor mineral concession rules

Amendments will be made to the Kerala Minor Mineral Concession (K.M.C.C) Rules, 2023, to address various issues faced by the laterite mining sector. The royalty rate of laterite (building stone) will be reduced to ₹32 from the current ₹48. The financial guarantee required for the laterite mining (for laterite building stone only) will also be reduced to ₹50,000 from the existing ₹2 lakh by amending Rule 13 of K.M.C.C. Provisions to pay the royalty in two instalments would be made by making amendment of the relevant rules. The amendments to K.M.C.C Rules has been suggested based on the recommendations of an expert committee comprising officials from State Mining & Geology Department constituted to look into the issues in the laterite sector arisen after the K.M.C.C amendment rules came into force on 31/03/2023.

Administrative sanction for Rs.10 crores

Approval was given to extend administrative sanction for Rs.10 crores towards the work of Kainoor regulator cum bridge across Manali river.

Managing Directors appointed

Managing Directors were appointed in various public sector undertakings under the Department of Industries. United Electricals Industries Limited – Pundampunathil Aneesh Babu, Kerala State Bamboo Corporation Limited – Najeeb M K, Kerala Small Industries Development Corporation Limited – R. Jayashankar, Kerala State Industrial Enterprises Limited – B. Sreekumar, Kerala Artisans Development Corporation Limited – Mathew C.V.

Pay revision

It was decided to implement the 10th pay revision recommendations for the government recognised employees in KINFRA as approved by the Public Enterprises Selection Board with effect from 20/06/2017 by excluding the clause, which directed that the pay revision arrears will be released later.
